About Us
The Ethiopian Psychologists’ Association (EPA) is a professional organization dedicated to advancing psychology as a science and profession, with a strong focus on education, and human development in Ethiopia. Established with the primary objective of defining and strengthening the role of psychologists, particularly within the Ethiopian Civil Service Commission, EPA has evolved far beyond its initial scope. From the outset, the Association has maintained broad membership requirements and engaged in diverse professional domains, ensuring its impact extends beyond administrative functions to the core of psychological education, assessment, and research.
EPA has played a crucial role in enhancing psychological education, research, and practice, working closely with academic institutions, policymakers, and professionals to address pressing psychological and educational challenges in the country. One of its key areas of focus has been education, proper assessment and testing, recognizing their essential role in improving education, human resource development, and policy implementation.
As part of its commitment to scientifically grounded and data-driven assessment practices, EPA is working on the Multi-Purpose Assessment Item Bank Project—a transformative initiative aimed at standardizing, improving, and modernizing assessment systems across Ethiopian universities and institutions. This project aligns with EPA’s broader mission to integrate cutting-edge research, technology, and psychological expertise into national educational and professional testing frameworks.
With a strong foundation in psychology and a commitment to innovation, EPA continues to shape the future of psychological practice, education, and assessment in Ethiopia. Through its collaborative efforts with educators, psychologists, researchers, and policymakers, the Association remains at the forefront of fostering professional excellence and driving meaningful reforms in psychological assessment and evaluation
